Downtown

Downtown Springfield is a great area to meet new people and create new friends. You can expect to meet people, as you would in any other neighborhood. But Downtown has a distinct personality and charm. Not to forget that many of the companies in the downtown area are locally owned, lending an air of determination and fun that you can’t help but admire. Another excellent feature is how easy it is to explore.

President Abraham Lincoln and the Wyndham Springfield City Centre are two downtown hotels. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the Illinois State Capitol, the Old State Capitol, and recognized Lincoln historical sites are a walking distance. So are superb restaurants and distinctive boutiques. The State House Inn – The Red Collection is a few short blocks away.

There is lots of parking in the vicinity. Also, there is convenient access to food, breweries, restaurants, and events. There is never a shortage of things to do, and there is always somewhere to have lunch or dinner. By walking, you can quickly get around and visit the attractions and historic sites.

Residents report that they frequently run into neighbors and friends when going about their daily routines. Within Downtown, Adams Street has its super-inclusive micro-neighborhood.
